Research Collection and Organization
Collect, organize, and synthesize research materials in Notes
The Problem
Research gets scattered across browser tabs, random documents, and emails. When you need to reference it later or share findings, you spend hours hunting for sources and trying to piece together your conclusions.
The Workflow
Step 1: Create a Research Project Note
Set up a structured research collection.
Prompt to use:
Create a new note called "Research: [Topic Name]" with sections:
- Research Question
- Key Findings
- Sources
- Open Questions
- Conclusions
Step 2: Collect from Emails
Gather relevant information from your inbox.
Prompt to use:
Search my emails for anything related to "competitor pricing"
and add the key points to my research note under Key Findings.
Include sender and date for reference.
Step 3: Synthesize Existing Notes
Pull in relevant information from your notes.
Prompt to use:
Search my notes for anything about "pricing strategy" or
"competitor analysis". Summarize what I've already learned
and add it to my research note.
Step 4: Identify Gaps
Find what's missing from your research.
Prompt to use:
Review my research note and suggest what information is
still missing. What questions haven't been answered?
Add these to the "Open Questions" section.
Step 5: Generate Conclusions
Create a synthesis of your findings.
Prompt to use:
Based on all the information in my research note,
write a conclusions section summarizing:
- Key insights
- Recommended actions
- Confidence level in findings
Expected Result
A comprehensive, well-organized research document that synthesizes information from multiple sources with clear conclusions and identified gaps.
